MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641009450 A) filed by Dr. Pallavi Pogaku; Dr. Manchi Shyam Sunder; Dr. Kadari Rajyalaxmi; Mr. Kandhukoori Naveen Kumar; Ms. Anthagiri Himaja; Ms. Kashinadhuni Naga Sai Sri; Mr. Arraveni Bharath; and Mr. Manda Deekshith, Hanamkonda, Telangana, on Jan. 29, for 'fermented millet products enriched with probiotic microorganisms and their health benefits.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a fermented millet product enriched with probiotic microorganisms, including Lactobacillus fermentum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium animalis, Pediococcus pentosaceus, Leuconostoc spp., Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Streptococcus thermophilus, prepared from millets such as foxtail millet, finger millet, kodo millet, and sorghum. The product is obtained through controlled fermentation processes that reduce anti-nutritional factors, enhance bioavailability of minerals and vitamins, and improve the digestibility and palatability of millets. The fermented millet product exhibits antimicrobial activity against pathogenic bacteria, modulates gut microbiota, supports immunity, improves metabolic regulation, and mitigates risks associated with chronic diseases including diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disorders. It can be prepared in milk-based, water-based, or dry forms and is suitable for all age groups. The invention provides a standardized, reproducible, and eco-friendly functional food, integrating traditional cereal nutrition with modern probiotic technology to promote health, preventive care, and sustainable agricultural practices."
