According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This project designs and implements an in-store Smart Mirror that delivers outfit recommendations and live virtual try-on experiences for shoppers. A mirror-like display with embedded camera(s) detects customers, estimates body measurements using real-time pose landmarks (and optional depth sensing), and infers a flattering color palette based on facial features under calibrated lighting. These signals feed a content-based recommendation engine that filters the store's catalog by inventory and size availability, ranking items by style similarity and color compatibility. The user can also scan a garment's QR code; the mirror instantly visualizes that item through a 2D virtual overlay, while an optional high-quality still image is rendered using a state-of-the-art try-on model. All inference runs locally on an edge device, ensuring low latency and privacy (no face recognition and no image storage by default). A local cache allows offline operation during network interruptions. The proposed solution aims to reduce decision time, improve conversions, increase average basket size, and minimize returns caused by poor fit or color mismatch. The MVP targets a single kiosk but is designed to scale across stores with remote management, analytics, and over-the-air updates."
