MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123253 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 6, 2025, for 'facial biometric attendance and productivity monitoring system.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a facial biometric attendance and productivity monitoring system. The system includes a camera configured to capture facial images of individuals, a face recognition module configured to identify individuals by comparing facial features against stored facial data, an emotion detection module configured to analyze facial expressions and classify emotional states, a productivity calculation module configured to compute productivity scores based on the classified emotional states, and an attendance logging module configured to record attendance data including user identity and calculated productivity score. The face recognition module utilizes facial feature encodings to perform identity verification, while the emotion detection module employs machine learning algorithms to classify emotions including happy, neutral, sad, angry, fear, disgust, and surprise states. The productivity calculation module applies weighted scoring algorithms that assign positive weights to emotions associated with higher productivity and negative weights to emotions associated with lower productivity."
