MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521057140 A) filed by Ashaya Waste Recyclers Private Limited, Pune, Maharashtra, on June 13, for 'extrusion formulation and process for converting polyolefins from multilayer packaging waste into highly recyclable material.'

Inventor(s) include Patil, Rajesh Ramesh; and Malpani, Anish Kishore.

The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a process for converting polyolefins from Multilayer Packaging Waste (MPW) into highly recyclable homogeneous polyolefin matrix. The process comprises shredding the multi-layer packaging waste to get a shredded mixture. Pretreating the shredded mixture to separate polyolefin rich material from non-polyolefin material. Blending of polyolefin rich material with compatibilizers, UV stabilizers, antioxidants, odour neutralizers, inorganic fillers and lubricants to get a blend mixture. Extruding the blend mixture under controlled shear and temperature conditions to obtain a homogeneous polyolefin matrix. The present invention also discloses an extrusion formulation of homogeneous polyolefin matrix obtained from Multilayer Packaging Waste (MPW). The extrusion formulation comprises Polyolefin-rich material, primary anti-oxidant, secondary anti-oxidant, UV stabilizer, Odour Neutralizer, Compatibilizer, inorganic filler and Lubricant."
