MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621022824 A) filed by Ve Commercial Vehicles Ltd., Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, on Feb. 26, for 'exhaust after-treatment system for a vehicle.'
Inventor(s) include Aayush Mishra; Ramesh Kumar; Saurav Roy; Hemantkumar Mohanlal Rathi; P Kumar; and Akhilesh Kumar Shukla.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An exhaust after-treatment system (100) for a vehicle (102) is disclosed. The exhaust after-treatment system (100) comprising an inlet pipe (106) fluidly connected to an internal combustion engine (104) and configured to receive exhaust gases generated by the internal combustion engine (104), a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) (108) fluidly to oxidize hydrocarbons (THC) and carbon monoxide (CO), a diesel particulate filter (DPF) (110) to filter particulate matter (PM) from the exhaust gases, a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) unit (112) to reduce nitrogen oxides (NOx) using a urea-based reductant, a downstream SCR unit (114) integrated with an ammonia slip catalyst (ASC) (118), a housing (116) configured to accommodate the DOC (108), the DPF (110), the SCR unit, and the downstream SCR unit (114) in a U-shaped exhaust flow configuration. The exhaust gases are redirected in a U-shaped flow path from the DPF (110) toward the SCR unit."
