MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621010581 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on Jan. 31, for 'evaporative desiccant-based air-cooling system.'

Inventor(s) include Anshul Kumbhare; Samarth Kshirsagar; Ameya Aras; Aaditya Chorghade; Padmaraj Maharaul; and Dr. Anirban Sur.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses an evaporative desiccant cooling system (100) for delivering cooled and dehumidified air in humid environments. The system (100) includes an air intake fan (102) that draws humid ambient air into the unit, followed by a rotatable desiccant wheel (104) coated with silica gel to absorb moisture. Downstream of the desiccant wheel (104), an evaporative pad structure (106) is positioned to cool the dehumidified air through evaporation, using water supplied from a reservoir via a pump. The cooled air is then delivered to an enclosed space by an air outlet fan (108). The desiccant wheel (104) is regenerated using heated air supplied through a heat exchanger, enabling continuous operation. This integrated system (100) achieves simultaneous dehumidification and cooling without reliance on vapor compression refrigeration. The modular arrangement of components ensures energy efficiency, adaptability to humid climates, and improved air quality through removal of moisture and airborne contaminants."
