MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531129997 A) filed by Mitra S K Private Limited, Kolkata, West Bengal, on Dec. 22, 2025, for 'estimation of slag in silico-manganese alloy.'
Inventor(s) include Hazra, Atrayee; Das, Nandita; and Gupta, Barun Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a simplified, operator-friendly non-polluting, non-hazardous, and environmentally sustainable method for estimation of slag content of SiMn alloy sample using direct FTIR based method. The method involves steps of grinding silico manganese alloy sample and mixing with an IR-transparent matrix to form a homogeneous mixture, recording infrared absorption spectra of the homogeneous mixture of step (i) at specific wavelengths associated with slag components, identifying and quantifying slag peaks based on calibration curves developed from standard samples, and determining slag content in silico manganese sample using FTIR intensity data."
