According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses an ergonomic, single-hand operable test tube holding device designed to address the mechanical and safety limitations of traditional laboratory holders. The device features a scissor clamp architecture comprising two elongated stainless-steel arms interconnected by a central rotational joint and a resilient spring mechanism. This design eliminates conventional sliding metal interfaces, thereby reducing mechanical friction, wear, and the risk of glove tearing. The device is equipped with ergonomically contoured handles coated in a heat-resistant insulating polymer to provide thermal protection and user comfort during prolonged heating operations. The distal ends consist of curved gripping jaws integrated with a silicone-based lining, ensuring a secure, non-slip grip on test tubes of varying diameters while providing a cushioning effect to prevent glass breakage. The self-closing spring mechanism enables precise, effortless control with one hand, allowing the user to multitask in a laboratory environment. This invention significantly enhances operational safety, durability, and ergonomic efficiency in educational, clinical, and research settings."
