MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641050560 A) filed by Easwari Engineering College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 21, for 'ergonomic aluminium laptop stand with sustainable cooling system.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. R. M. Sathiyamoorthy; Ms Shrilakshmi. B; Mr Sidhdharth R; and Mr Shyam S.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The modern portable computing environment necessitates accessories that address both thermal management and ergonomic health. Conventional laptop stands often lack active cooling, leading to performance degradation, while most cooling pads offer limited angular adjustment, contributing to poor posture. This work proposes an Adjustable, Cooling, and Ergonomic Laptop Stand (ACELS) design that integrates a powerful Fan Cooling Unit (FCU) with a rigid, high-friction Pivot Mechanism (PM) and a collapsible Foldable Support Bracket (FSB). The design uses CAD modelling and structural simulation to ensure stability across various angles. The Pivot Mechanism (PM), secured by a bolt assembly, allows for precise, rigid angular locking, minimizing movement during typing. The integrated fan actively dissipates heat, preventing thermal throttling. The modular, foldable design enhances portability and is validated to improve user comfort and extend laptop hardware lifespan."
