MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541004272 A) filed by Ensquare Global, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on Jan. 18, 2025, for 'environment-friendly light weight paver blocks utilizing coal ash for sustainable construction.'
Inventor(s) include B Indira Devi; Kumari Ritika; B Nageswara Rao; and Kumar Navneet.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention is a method (100) for manufacturing environmentally friendly paver blocks utilizing coal ash for sustainable construction is disclosed. The method comprises preparing a self-compacting paste by blending Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) (104), fly ash (102), water (108), and a high-range superplasticizer (106) in a roller-based primary pan mixer (110), transferring the paste to a secondary pan mixer (114) and combining it with coarse bottom ash (112) to obtain a homogeneous mixture, casting the mixture into molds (116) of desired shapes, demolding the blocks (118) after about 24 hours, and curing the blocks (120) under natural conditions for at least 14 days or via accelerated curing comprising steam or hot water curing followed by natural curing. The method eliminates the use of natural aggregates and sand, achieves compressive strength of 45-65 MPa, water absorption not exceeding 6%, improved abrasion resistance, and reduced weight. The invention enables large-scale recycling of coal ash, reduces carbon footprint, and provides a sustainable, high-strength alternative for construction applications."
