MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641043137 A) filed by Mr. Nithish Mahendran; Mr. Sathish Kumar S; Mr. Joseph Adithyan M; Dr. Primya T; Dr. Vivekrabinson K; and Mr. Rajesh Kumar S, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on April 4, for 'enhancing network defense: an ml-based nids with live dashboard and incident reporting.'
Inventor(s) include Mr. Nithish Mahendran; Mr. Sathish Kumar S; Mr. Joseph Adithyan M; Dr. Primya T; Dr. Vivekrabinson K; and Mr. Rajesh Kumar S.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A hybrid network intrusion detection system (NIDS) for real-time threat detection and forensic logging is disclosed. The system combines a volumetric heuristic engine for rapid detection of high-volume attacks with a Random Forest-based machine learning module for identifying subtle, behavior-driven intrusions from network logs. A dynamic flow-feature control mechanism selectively routes traffic, bypassing the machine learning layer during volumetric surges to maintain low latency and prevent system overload. An automated forensic module generates tamper-evident records by applying cryptographic hashing to each detected event. A real-time dashboard enables continuous monitoring and visualization. The proposed framework achieves high detection accuracy while maintaining sub-second response under heavy traffic conditions. Its modular and resource-efficient design allows deployment on standard edge systems, ensuring scalable, reliable, and verifiable network security in dynamic environments."
