MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511122545 A) filed by Baba Farid College Of Engineering And Technology; and Baba Farid College, Bathinda, Punjab, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'engine-operated multifunctional vegetable sowing and ridge-making machine.'

Inventor(s) include Poonam Burman; Ramandeep Kumar; Surbhi Sharma; Lovepreet Singh; and Rupinder Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to an engine-operated vegetable sowing machine (100) configured to perform simultaneous ridge formation and seed sowing in a single pass. The machine (100) comprises an engine (102) adapted to provide mechanical power; a seed hopper (104) for storing vegetable seeds; a seed metering mechanism (106) for controlled seed discharge; and a seed delivery tube (108) for directing seeds into the soil. A ridge-making mechanism (110) is positioned rearward of the metering unit to form ridges immediately after seed deposition. A gearbox and clutch assembly (112) transmits power from the engine (102) to both the metering and ridge-making mechanisms in synchronized motion, ensuring uniform seed depth and spacing. A front wheel (114) provides support and mobility, while handles (116) enable operator control. The self-propelled structure eliminates the need for a tractor, reducing labour, time, and cost while improving sowing uniformity and field efficiency."
