MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517060654 A) filed by Evonik Oxeno Gmbh And Co. Kg, Marl, Germany, on June 25, for 'energy efficient process for separating butenes from c4 hydrocarbon streams.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a process for separating butenes from C4 hydrocarbon streams containing butanes as well as butenes by means of extractive distillation with a suitable solvent. The process according to the invention is characterized by heat integration which makes it possible to use the heat of the solvent for heating and/or at least partly evaporating various streams and by the use of a heat pump for the electrification of the process."
