MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411071650 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on Sept. 23, 2024, for 'electronic device, method, and non-transitory computer readable storage medium for controlling battery based on temperature.'

Inventor(s) include Youngmi Ha; Seonyoung Park; Hyunjun Oh; Shri Krishn Meena; Soohyeon Baek; and Jaehyuk Choi.

The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An electronic device may include at least one processor. The at least one processor is configured to: identify whether a minimum temperature of temperatures measured by a plurality of thermistors is below a threshold temperature; disable a function setting a state of charge (SoC) of a battery to a power off value, based on detecting a battery condition below a first threshold voltage for the battery, in accordance with an identification that the minimum temperature is below the threshold temperature; determine an SoC of a plurality of batteries using capacities of the plurality of batteries measured by a plurality of fuel gauges; cause a turn-off of the electronic device in accordance with a user interface (UI) SoC reduced to the power off value based on detecting a battery condition below a second threshold voltage for the plurality of batteries; and display, through the display, after turn-on of the electronic device, a UI SoC having a value corresponding to the determined SoC of the plurality of batteries."
