MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517059727 A) filed by Lg Energy Solution, Ltd; and Korea Advanced Institute Of Science And Technology, Seoul, Republic of Korea, on June 23, for 'electrolyte for lithium-sulfur battery and lithium-sulfur battery containing same.'

Inventor(s) include Park, Seong-Hyo; Kim, Hee-Tak; Lee, Chang-Hoon; Jung, Jin-Kwan; and Cho, Hye-Nah.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an electrolyte for use in lithium-sulfur batteries, which includes a Lewis acidic additive containing cations with higher Lewis acidity than lithium ions. This configuration inhibits the leaching of polysulfides into the electrolyte, improves the ionic conductivity of the electrolyte, and enhances sulfur utilization, thereby providing advantageous effects for the stable operation of lithium-sulfur batteries with lean electrolyte and high capacity."

The patent application was internationally filed on Apr. 02, 2024, under International application No.PCT/KR2024/004261.
