MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517058342 A) filed by Saint-Gobain Isover, Cour-sur-Loire, France, on June 18, for 'electric glass-making furnace.'

Inventor(s) include Lismonde, Michel; Maugendre, Stephane; Santamaria, Romain; Dianous, Philippe; and Gervais, Joel.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to an at least partially electric glass-making furnace (1), comprising a melting tank (2) made of refractory materials that is suitable for containing a bath (3) of molten batch materials and a plurality of immersion heating electrodes (An, Bn, Cn, Dn), which are immersed from the free surface of said bath (3) and supplied with electric current by an electrical facility (4). The electrical facility (4) is configured to generate a two-phase alternating current. This makes it possible to heat larger furnaces/reduce the number of electrodes."

The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 17, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/082229.
