MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411022869 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 23, 2024, for 'eggplant cutting assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Sachchida Nand Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 24, under issue no. 43/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An eggplant cutting assistive device, comprising a platform 1 configured with multiple rods 2 that provides support to the platform 1 on a ground surface, a suction cup 3 is attached with each of rods 2 for affixing with the surface in order to secure the platform 1 on surface, a slot 4 crafted on platform 1 for accommodating eggplant to be cut, a laser sensor for detecting size of eggplant, an inverted L-shaped telescopic bar 5 for placing a circular shaped ring 6 over eggplant to accommodate eggplant, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 7 determines presence of waste part and leaves on the eggplant, multiple robotic links 8 for cutting waste part and leaves by a blade 9 attached with links 8, a robotic gripper 10 for disposing waste part and leaves into a receptacle 11 and a speaker 12 for notifying user regarding disposal of waste and leaves."
