MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511124196 A) filed by Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Dec. 9, 2025, for 'efficient kitchen chimney and its method of operation.'
Inventor(s) include Kapil Ghai; Prisha Bhalla; Anupriya; and Arunima Nayak.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to an automated chimney system designed for alkali-assisted oil decomposition, vacuum extraction, and Teflon-based oil collection. The system includes a chimney body (10) housing a motor (20) coupled to one or more fan blades (110) and connected via main wires (90) to a DC power source. A plurality of chimney plates (40) equipped with pre-designed channels receive alkali metal rods (50) that catalytically decompose oil droplets. A vacuum system (60), mechanically linked to the motor, generates dual-suction to withdraw the liquefied oil through a suction pipe (70) constructed from a chemically resistant polymer, subsequently depositing the oil into a detachable Teflon container (80). An auxiliary sensor module monitors operational parameters, ensuring continuous and efficient performance, thereby providing an innovative solution in the field of automated chimney oil management."
