MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541124463 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 10, 2025, for 'efficacy of herbal transdermal patch in the management of menstrual irregularity & dysmenorrhea among women with pcos randomized control trial.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Efficacy of a herbal transdermal patch in the management of menstrual irregularity and dysmenorrhea among women with PCOS -Randomized Control Trial * INTRODUCTION: Polycystic ovarian syndrome is complex . yet common disorder occurring in reproductive age group women .Disorder leads to subfertility in almost 70% of women facing difficulties in ovulation .It has a Prevalence of 6-12% of women of reproductive age group often causing menstrual irregularities. Underlying symptoms include; Obesity, pelvic pain,thinning of hair,irregular bleeding, hirsuitism .ObjeCtive of my study is to compare improvement in menstrual cycles irregularity after intervention in both control group & intervention group and to compare dysmenorrhea severity between intervention group ~ control group.It is a Randomized double blind control trial in women meeting Rotterdam Criteria for PCOS will be randomized 111 patch or placebo .in which Partcipants and im cstigator arc blinded .It is done by assigning partcipants to either the active herbal patch or a placebo patch using systemic unpredictable method,to ensure no selection bias, Partcipants are randomly placed into groups with each participant having equal chance of receiving either active or placebo treatment. Patch delivering standardize~ herbal extracts will . be applied during menstruation over consecutive cycles. Women of age 20-40 yrs diagnosed with PCOS is included, Pregnant or lactating women,Prior allergy to ingredients,Using hormonal medications or IUDs,Skin conditions preventing patcbuse, conditions mimicking hypothyroidism and adrenal disorders are . excluded Sample size: Estimating a sample size of N=llO women (alpha =0.05) (80%Statistical power)Statistical Analysis with paired T test, ANOV A."
