MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511102415 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 24, 2025, for 'effect of fruit-based bio-enzyme on the growth of the banana plant.'

Inventor(s) include Saurabh Gurjar; Radhajogita Mondal; and Deven Verma.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a method for enhancing the growth and soil fertility of banana plants using fruit-based bio-enzymes derived from bael, amla, and citrus fruits. The bio-enzyme is prepared by fermenting the fruits with sugar or jaggery and water under controlled conditions, followed by filtration to remove solids. The resulting nutrient-rich solution is applied to banana plants through foliar spraying or drip irrigation at defined intervals, providing stage-specific support for vegetative growth, root development, and nutrient uptake. Regular application also improves soil microbial activity and organic matter content. This eco-friendly and sustainable approach reduces dependency on chemical fertilizers, promotes healthier plants, enhances yield, and supports long-term soil fertility in banana cultivation."
