MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621023853 A) filed by Parul University; and Dr. Parul Thapar, Vadodara, Gujarat, on Feb. 27, for 'edible composition for tooth sensitivity management and method for preparation thereof.'

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an edible composition for tooth sensitivity management. The composition comprises of cocoa powder, cotton seed oil as edible oil, and honey as saccharide-based binder. The composition is characterized by the inclusion of a bacteriocin derived from Levilactobacillus brevis, which is immobilized on iron-oxide nanoparticles. The bacteriocin is preferably a Class IIa peptide with a molecular weight of approximately 0.9 kDa and comprise the amino acid sequence Gly-Leu-Tyr-Ala-Ser-Leu-Lys-Arg. The composition is formulated as a solid chocobite for oral administration. The invention also relates to the use of the composition in therapy, particularly for preventing or reducing tooth sensitivity by inhibiting the activity of dental caries-causing pathogens such as Streptococcus mutans, Escherichia coli and Candida albicans. A method for preparing the composition is also provided."
