MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641006732 A) filed by Simi John; and Nikhil Biju, Idukki, Kerala, on Jan. 23, for 'eco-legal multi-compartment waste bin with legally indicative design for statutory compliance.'
Inventor(s) include Simi John; and Nikhil Biju.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention describes an eco-legal ornamental design for a multi-compartment waste segregation bin, aimed at ensuring public adherence to statutory waste disposal categories. The system integrates biomedical, plastic, organic, and e-waste compartments within a singular chassis. Each compartment is visually and tactually distinguished by embossed legal symbols and CPCB-recommended color codes. The lid incorporates a stylized ornamental ring forming a recycling triangle, where each vertex functions as a waste insertion point. The bin promotes intuitive compliance through standardized visual cues, facilitating lawful segregation in public, academic, and industrial zones. Elevated from the ground and engineered with drainage perforations, the design supports hygienic and durable use. All visual elements are protected under the Indian Designs Act. The invention thus serves dual roles-as a legally compliant utility object and a public-facing communicative tool for sustainable behavior."
