MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202444033752 A) filed by Karpagam College Of Engineering, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on April 29, 2024, for 'eco friendly non fired tile.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. G. K. Arunvivek; M. Amirthan; K. Darshan; and P. Gokula Krishnan.
The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Conventionally, ceramic tile manufacturing is a highly energy-intensive sector, mainly sintering in the tunnel kiln which consumes significant amounts of fossil fuel. For the problem of depletion and reducing the consumption of fossil fuel is a challenge for entrepreneurs to solve. Thus, non-fired process is one of the alternative process to reduce energy consumption by utilizing waste components from industrial processes as alternative materials have been recognized in this project and Production of Eco Friendly Non Fired tile from dumped by-product i.e fly ash, eco sand with plastering gypsum and to make it as composite material chopped glass fiber is added with OPC 53 cement in a very simple technique and this project is handled in the concept of trial and error, to determine the desired proportion of mix and techniques."
