Inventor(s) include M. Pooja Niharika; Dr. Suresh Babu Palanisamy; and Dr Ramya Mohan.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Eco-CleanMist is an innovative, alcohol-free bio-sanitizer developed through the fermentation of agro-industrial fruit waste, harnessing lactic acid and acetic acid as natural antimicrobial agents. This study aimed to evaluate its antimicrobial efficacy, skin compatibility, and storage stability to ensure safety and effectiveness for real-world applications. Antimicrobial activity was tested against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans, showing significant zones of inhibition, thereby confirming broad-spectrum effectiveness. Skin compatibility was assessed through patch testing, which revealed no irritation, indicating its suitability for sensitive skin. Storage stability analysis demonstrated product effectiveness for over four weeks under controlled conditions. The findings highlight Eco-CleanMist as a sustainable, eco-friendly sanitizer that not only reduces fruit waste but also offers a safe and effective alternative to conventional alcohol- based sanitizers. This work establishes its potential for public hygiene applications and future large- scale commercialization."
