MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641006734 A) filed by Simi John; and Nikhil Biju, Idukki, Kerala, on Jan. 23, for 'eco-certification seal integrating legal and environmental motifs for verified zero-waste compliance.'
Inventor(s) include Simi John; and Nikhil Biju.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention describes an ornamental eco-certification seal designed to authenticate zero-waste compliance within India's environmental and legal ecosystems. The seal functions as a standardized visual identifier denoting sustainable practices, enforceable under the Indian Designs Act. Structurally, it comprises three symbolic layers: an outer ring of stylized leaves denoting ecological diversity; a central construct featuring the recycling triangle merged with the scales of justice to reflect legal-sustainability integration; and a translucent Ashoka Chakra symbolizing national authority and cultural legitimacy. Designed for application on municipal documentation, product labels, and civic signage, the seal provides a versatile and scalable solution for visible environmental compliance. Beyond aesthetics, the seal acts as a regulatory proxy, facilitating recognition during audits, certifications, and public inspections. It is intended to be issued by designated regulatory bodies to compliant organizations. This seal bridges the interpretive gap between sustainability protocols and public understanding, reinforcing transparency, trust, and ecological responsibility."
