MUMBAI, India, June 16 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611054802 A) filed by Chitkara University, Rajpura, Punjab, on April 29, for 'eating utensil for real-time allergen management during eating.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Lekha Rani; and Dr. Raj Gaurang Tiwari.
The application for the patent was published on June 5, under issue no. 23/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An eating utensil for real-time allergen management during eating, comprising an elongate utensil body 101 accessed by a user comprising a handle portion and a food contact head portion, an allergen detection unit acquires food related measurement data, a user detection control 105 initiates allergen sensing by the allergen detection unit, an artificial intelligence based allergen identification routine processes food related measurement data to determine presence of at least one target allergen, a feedback unit provides different alert indicating an allergen detected condition and an allergen-not-detected condition, a food texture and freshness analysis unit measures at least firmness and surface roughness, and detects spoilage-related gases, at least one enzyme cartridge 107 storing allergen specific enzymes, and a dispensing nozzle 110 arranged with enzyme cartridge 107 delivers the activated enzyme solution onto a targeted portion of food proximate to food contact head portion, an accelerometer 111 monitors head and utensil motion."
