MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611050929 A) filed by Chitkara University, Mohali, Punjab, on April 21, for 'earthen lamp safety device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Rupinder Singh; Dr. Gurmeet Kaur; Dr. Amanpreet Singh; Dr. Jaswinder Singh; Jarnail Singh; and Dr. Maninderjit Singh Khanna.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An earthen lamp safety device, comprises a protective cover assembly defining a hollow enclosure 101 and a base 102 configured to be placed on a support surface and to receive an earthen lamp, an extendable rod 201 equipped with a support plate 202 configured to hold the earthen lamp, a motorized solenoid valve 203 fluidly connected with an oil storage chamber 204 to control dispensing of oil to the earthen lamp, a sensor suite to measure flame presence and wind speed for instability and tip-over risk detection, a sliding gate 103 mounted at an upper region of the protective cover assembly and movable between an open position and a closed position based on received feedback from the sensor suite, an alerting unit comprising a buzzer 104 mounted on the assembly configured to generate an audible alarm in response to a detected or predicted hazardous condition to warn nearby occupants."
