MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411026540 A) filed by HFCL Limited, New Delhi, on March 30, 2024, for 'duct with embedded mechanism for identifying point of damage.'
Inventor(s) include Jyoti Prakash Das; Akhil Garg; Prakash Shankar B M; and Ashok Kumar Verma.
The application for the patent was published on Oct. 24, under issue no. 43/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a duct (100) comprising a central cavity (102) extending in the longitudinal direction; and at least one peripheral cavity (104) extending in the longitudinal direction provided in the wall (106) of the duct (100), wherein the peripheral cavity (104) is adapted to enclose at least one optical fiber (108). The optical fiber (108) embedded in the peripheral cavity (104) is capable of being used for detection of damage to the duct (100) in various applications, such as telecom optical networks power cable, etc."
