MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411014315 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 27, 2024, for 'dual-purpose seating assistive device.'
Inventor(s) include Nidhi; Dr. Vinay Bhatia; Raghav Goyal; and Manish.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A dual-purpose seating assistive device comprises a cuboidal hollow body 1, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 3 mounted on the platform 2 for detecting the user's height, plurality of telescopically operated rods 4 configured underneath the body 1 for allowing the user to comfortably sit, an extendable plate 5 installed with the platform 2 via a pair of L-shaped bars 6 for extending, a rain sensor positioned on the body 1 detects rain in surroundings, plurality of iris pores 7 configured on the body 1 for collection of rain water, a motorized roller 8 installed within the body 1 and wrapped with a filter membrane connected with a pair of telescopically operated links configured within the body 1 for roller 8 to rotate for deploying the membrane, and a level sensor embedded within the body 1 for detecting level of the water collected within the body 1."
