MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541133411 A) filed by Dr. Mahalingam College Of Engineering And Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 30, 2025, for 'dual mode solar powered shoe odour removal box with integrated blue light sterilization.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention is' a dual-mode solar-powered shoe odour removal box incorporated with blue light sterilization. By combining solar energy harvesting, blue lightemitting diode sterilization, and controlled air circulation, the invention is a chemical-free, energy-efficient device for deodorizing and sterilizing footwear. In primary solar-powered mode, the device operates under adequate sunlight and, during low-light or indoor conditions, it automatically changes to a smart backup mode that is powered by an internal energy storage unit. The system comprises a shoe chamber, a solar photovoltaic module, a rechargeable battery, blue light LEDs that are capable of disinfection of bacteria and fungi, which cause odour, a ventilation system for moisture removal, and a dual-mode control device for intelligent power management. The invention is an eco-friendly operation that assures the continuous hygiene of footwear, less microbial contamination, and the users' convenience being enhanced."
