MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641062184 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on May 15, for 'dual-layer emotion-aware smart classroom system using swarm-based aggregation and silent personalized micro-intervention.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Muthunagai S U; Anampalli Eshwar; and Duggini Lokesh.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a computer-implemented system for adaptive learning in a classroom environment. Physiological and behavioral signals of students are captured using wearable sensing interfaces and processed to determine individual emotional states. The individual emotional states are aggregated using a swarm-based mechanism to derive a collective classroom emotional state. A decision engine distinguishes between majority and minority emotional conditions based on predefined criteria. When a majority condition is detected, classroom-level instructional adaptation is generated, and when a minority condition is detected, individualized intervention signals are generated. The individualized interventions are delivered as silent micro-interventions without altering the classroom environment. The system provides anonymized classroom-level insights to an instructor and enables selective and non-disruptive adaptive learning."
