MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641025478 A) filed by Meenakshi Academy Of Higher Education And Research; and Meenakshi Ammal Dental College And Hospital, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on March 4, for 'dual-grip universal sensor holder for intraoral radiography.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Anitha Logaranjani; Dr. Aarudra Devi; Dr. Nikita Ravi; and Dr. Jaideep Mahendra.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a universal intraoral radiographic positioning apparatus configured to accommodate both digital radiovisiography (RVG) sensors and phosphor storage plates (PSP) within a single modular assembly for accurate radiographic imaging using the paralleling technique. The apparatus comprises a receptor interface having a basket with interchangeable rigid and flexible support inserts for secure retention of multiple receptor formats. Clamps or spring-loaded members prevent receptor displacement during exposure. An indexed alignment assembly enables angular calibration relative to the X-ray beam axis, while a telescoping positioning arm provides adjustable length adaptation for anterior, premolar, and molar regions. An aiming ring ensures concentric beam alignment, and a bite-block integrated with a stabilization module and lateral stabilization wings enhances intraoral stability and reproducibility. The apparatus is fabricated from biocompatible, sterilizable materials suitable for repeated clinical use, thereby reducing distortion, minimizing retakes, and ensuring standardized radiographic positioning across varied dental applications."
