MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611002176 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Jan. 8, for 'dual-core prill fertilizer system.'

Inventor(s) include Achari Jahnavi; Dr. Puneet Walia; Sanjeet Singh Sandal; and Srujana Gattu.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a dual-core fertilizer system (100) for banana (Musa spp.) cultivation, comprising a fast-release nitrogen core (102) of urea (108) and starch (110) and a slow-release shell (104) containing potassium (112), magnesium sulfate (114), calcinated eggshell powder (116), and biochar (118), coated with calcium-alginate microseal (106). The core (102) provides rapid nitrogen release for vegetative growth, while the shell (104) releases potassium and magnesium gradually over 60-90 days, aligning with bunch initiation and fruit filling. Waste-derived materials enhance sustainability, and the alginate coating (106) improves nutrient retention. The dual-core system (100) improves nutrient-use efficiency, reduces labor, enhances yield and fruit quality, and minimizes environmental impacts, offering a cost-effective and practical fertilizer solution for banana production."
