MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641008230 A) filed by Srm Institute Of Science And Technology; and Easwari Engineering College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Jan. 28, for 'dreamshield: wearable-assisted system for detecting rem-related stress events and providing adaptive calming stimuli.'

Inventor(s) include M. Naveen Kumar; Dr. B. Senthil; and Dr. G. Venkat Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention relates to a wearable system which analyse the sleep regulation and act as a nightmare prevention system. Dreamshield act as a mobile software which integrates smart wearable device like smart watches and rings to intelligently manage sleep disturbances. Dreamshield during the day time monitors the heart rate, heart rate variation, motion of a person, stress, skin temperature, etc and predict whether the person will get a nightmare or not. To avoid nightmare the software plays positive audio through mobile phone or via the in-built speaker in the wearable. This invention mainly aims to reduce nightmare frequency and improve sleep quality."
