MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411011299 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 19, 2024, for 'drawer opening and closing assistive device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A drawer opening and closing assistive device includes a platform 1 integrated with a inductive proximity sensor 2 for detecting material of front portion, in case of non-metallic surface, a microcontroller actuates multiple suction units 3 for affixing with surface to mount platform 1 on front portion, in case of metallic surface, an electromagnetic patch 4 magnetizes/demagnetizes to mount platform 1 on front portion, user opens and close front portion by accessing an plate 5, a microphone 6 for receiving user's voice command regarding type of object stored inside drawer, accordingly multiple pneumatic pins 7 extends/retracts for displaying name of object, an imaging unit 9 for capturing and processing user's images that are analyzed by microcontroller via encrypted facial recognition protocols to determine user's profile, in case of visually impaired user, a braille module 10 actuates for displaying object's name in a braille script."
