MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441056737 A) filed by Praanapoorna Collective Private Limited, Bangalore, India, on July 25, 2024, for 'disinfectant composition and method of preparation thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides disinfectant compositions and products comprising fruit peel extract, at least one essential oil, and saponin extract which are non-toxic, 5 environmentally friendly, highly effective, and safe. The present disclosure provides a method for producing the disinfectant composition, comprising (a) fermenting a reaction mixture comprising fruit peel, unrefined sugar substrate, and water, to obtain a fruit peel extract; (b) mixing a portion of the fruit peel extract with soapnut and water, to obtain a saponin extract; (c) preparing an emulsion by 10 mixing, preferably using a blender, at least one essential oil with a portion of the saponin extract; and (d) mixing the emulsion with the saponin extract and adding the fruit peel extract, and stirring to obtain the disinfectant composition."
