MUMBAI, India, June 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311083544 A) filed by Hpcl-Mittal Energy Limited, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Dec. 7, 2023, for 'direct pet-coke firing in cfbc boiler.'
Inventor(s) include Amit Kumar; Siddiqui Md Ghazunfer Ali; and Laxman Tari.
The application for the patent was published on June 13, under issue no. 24/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A feed system for boiler with direct petroleum coke firing comprises multiple bunkers, gravimetric feeders (GF), drag chain feeders (DCF), and petcoke feeders. The bunkers store the petroleum coke. The GFs, DCFs and petcoke feeders are in fluid communication to transfer the petroleum coke to the furnace. The first and fourth DCFs are started after reaching a first temperature, which is followed by starting of first and fourth GF to burp the petroleum coke for a predefined time. The first and fourth DCF and the first and the fourth GF trip after the predefined time. The burping of the petroleum coke is intermittently continued until a second temperature range, where the burping is started in a third GF and a third DCF until a third temperature. The petroleum coke is then allowed to flow from the DCFs into the furnace via the petcoke feeders."
