MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541125300 A) filed by National Institute Of Ocean Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 11, 2025, for 'digital twin system and method for predicting health parameters of a physical battery.'

Inventor(s) include Narayanaswamy, Vedachalam; Vandavasi, Bala Naga Jyothi; John, Preetha Roselyn; Uthayakumar, Sowmmiya; Durairaj, Devaraj; Sethuraman, Ramesh; and Ramakrishnan, Balaji.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method (1200) for predicting one or more health parameters of a physical battery (104) coupled with a digital twin system (102) is disclosed. The method includes receiving, using a digital twin engine (108) within the digital twin system, one or more real-time parameters of the physical battery from a sensory array (106). Further, the method includes generating, using the digital twin engine, one or more twin parameters. The method includes determining, using the digital twin engine, a residual error in at least one of the one or more twin parameters. In addition, the method includes determining if the residual error in at least one of the one or more twin parameters is above a threshold value. The method includes adjusting the one or more twin parameters when the determined residual error is above the threshold value. The method includes predicting the one or more health parameters."
