MUMBAI, India, Jan. 3 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511102899 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 25, 2025, for 'digital twin of eye health system with smart contact lenses for continuous monitoring and adaptive therapy.'

Inventor(s) include Khalid Hafiz Mir.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system (100) for continuous ocular health monitoring and adaptive therapy management, comprising a biocompatible smart contact lens (102) with integrated nanosensors and microelectronics to measure intraocular pressure, tear glucose, lactate, and inflammation markers. The lens (102) wirelessly transmits data to a mobile edge device (104) for preprocessing and encryption. Data is uploaded to a cloud-based AI-driven digital twin platform (106), which models eye physiology, predicts disease progression, and generates personalized therapeutic recommendations. Embedded micro-reservoir drug delivery modules (108) in the lens (102) release medication based on digital twin feedback. Patients (110) and clinicians (112) access dashboards for real-time monitoring, predictive alerts, and trend analysis. The system (100) offers a scalable, non-invasive, closed-loop, and intelligent solution for chronic ocular disease management and personalized treatment."
