MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511102374 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 24, 2025, for 'digital twin of dialysis optimization with sensor-enabled dialysis system.'
Inventor(s) include Khalid Hafiz Mir.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a Digital Twin Dialysis Optimization System (100) integrating a sensor-enabled dialysis machine (102), local edge processing unit (104), cloud-based digital twin platform (106), and adaptive dashboards (108) for patients (110) and clinicians (112). The system continuously monitors physiological and biochemical parameters during dialysis, including blood pressure, electrolytes, blood volume, and toxin levels. The edge unit (104) preprocesses data, which is used by the digital twin platform (106) to simulate patient-specific fluid, electrolyte, and toxin removal, predict complications, and generate optimized treatment parameters. Adaptive control (108) dynamically adjusts therapy while allowing clinician oversight. The dashboards provide real-time monitoring, alerts, and education. The system (100) enables predictive, personalized, and scalable dialysis management, improving safety, efficacy, and patient engagement, and supporting tele-nephrology and home-based dialysis."
