MUMBAI, India, Jan. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511102916 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 25, 2025, for 'digital twin-based smart cast system for real-time monitoring and adaptive bone healing.'

Inventor(s) include Khalid Hafiz Mir.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A Digital Twin-Based Smart Cast System (100) is disclosed for continuous fracture monitoring and adaptive bone healing. The system comprises a sensor-based smart cast (102) that monitors strain, temperature, humidity, and biochemical markers at the fracture site. A mobile/edge device (106) pre-processes sensor data and wirelessly transmits it to a cloud-based digital twin platform (108), which constructs a dynamic virtual model of the bone and surrounding tissues. The digital twin predicts healing trajectories, detects complications, and generates actionable recommendations. Interactive dashboards (110,112) provide real-time visualization for clinicians and patients, facilitating personalized care and remote monitoring. The system supports additional biosensors, telemedicine integration, and closed-loop feedback for optimized recovery. It reduces complications, improves patient engagement, and enhances rehabilitation efficiency while enabling predictive, personalized orthopedic care."
