MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641017330 A) filed by Easwari Engineering College; and Srm Institute Of Science And Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 17, for 'digital evidence timeline generator with rfid tagging and raspberry pi.'
Inventor(s) include Ganesan M; Sai Keerthana P; and Shreya R.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention presents a Digital Evidence Management and Timeline Generation System designed to ensure secure, transparent, and tamper-resistant handling of forensic evidence. Each evidence item is assigned a unique RFID tag, enabling automated tracking whenever custody changes occur. RFID scanners capture real-time data including timestamps, user identity, and location, which is processed by a Raspberry Pi controller to minimize human intervention and errors. Custody records are securely stored in a local database for offline accessibility and synchronized with a cloud database for redundancy and remote monitoring. A timeline generation module organizes all custody events chronologically, allowing investigators and legal authorities to trace the complete history of evidence from collection to courtroom presentation. A role-based web dashboard and alert system provide real-time visibility and flag unauthorized access or anomalies, thereby enhancing evidence integrity, accountability, and admissibility throughout investigative and judicial processes."
