MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641022372 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 25, for 'diabetofils-monofilament pen with selective click-actuation for sensory assessment.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Vignesh Srinivasan; Dr. Christo Ajai Siluvai; and Dr. Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A multi-filament monotilament pen for sensory assessment includes a pen-shaped housing that contains multiple monofilaments of different force thresholds. Each monofilament is selectively deployable via a click-based side actuation mechanism similar to a multi-colour pen. The device allows for very fast, hygienic, and thus efficient sensory testing and is particularly useful in the assessment of peripheral neuropathy, including diabetic neuropathy."
