MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202221076194 A) filed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Nashik, Maharashtra, on Dec. 28, 2022, for 'device to actuate and test refueling probe system of fighter aircraft.'

Inventor(s) include Mr. Santosh Solanke; Mr. Shrikant Mendhe; Mr. Kaushal Kumar Jha; and Mr. Ravindra Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Air-to-air refueling is used to increase endurance and range of a fighter aircraft. During in-flight refueling, refueling probe is used to transfer the fuel from receiver aircraft by precise alignment and positioning of refueling probe by receiver aircraft. A device (1) is evolved for testing and fault identification of air to air refueling probe system of fighter aircraft on ground. The device comprises of alignment unit (4) for alignment, actuation and testing refueling probe system (19), hydraulic system (2), pneumatic system (8) for serviceability by angle measuring device (5), timing measuring device(6) and height measuring device (7). The device also comprises of a fuel system (10) for testing of desired flow of fuel and monitoring of time through timing measuring device (12). Electrical system (13) is used to measure the Insulation resistance of electric by insulation tester (15) and serviceability of illumination circuit by continuity tester (16)."
