MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411073940 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Sept. 30, 2024, for 'device for surfing on waves in a water body.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Chamkaur Singh; Dr. Inderpreet Kaur; Abhishek Kumar; and Aman Thakur.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A device for surfing on waves in a water body comprises an elongated elliptical base 1 for a user to stand onto the base, an inflatable air tube connected with an inflation unit, provided on a bottom periphery of the base, a depth sensor provided on the base 1 detects a depth of the base 1 in water, a telescopic rod 2 provided on top of the base 1 for balancing, an ultrasonic sensor provided on the base 1 detects a height of the user, plurality of triangular fins 3 attached to the base 1 by motorized hinges for changing direction of the base, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 4 installed on the base 1 determine a turbulence in water ahead of the base, a weight sensor detecting a weight of a user."
