MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411073961 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Sept. 30, 2024, for 'device for mounting a camera on a roof of a car.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Vinay Bhatia; Dr. Deepak Dhadwal; Dishant Khosla; Dr. Himani Chugh; Ashwarya Sanjay; and Tanishq.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A device for mounting a camera on a roof of a car, comprises of a rectangular base 1 having four suction cups 2 underneath the base 1 for gripping the roof of the car, four telescopic arms 3 having C-shaped hooks 4 to provide additional grip, a telescopic rod 6 having a mounting plate 8 at its end, inflation unit 10 to inflate the plurality of air cushions 9 to protect the camera from the collision, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 11 for recording and processing images in a vicinity of the base 1, ball and socket joint 7 to avoid the obstacle, a speaker 12 for a user regarding a covering of the camera, a microphone 13 provided on the base 1 for receiving an audio command from the user."
