MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411022830 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on March 23, 2024, for 'device for finishing an inner surface of a pipe.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A device for finishing an inner surface of a pipe, comprising a circular ring frame 1 having plurality of C-clamps 2 for attaching to an edge of an open end of pipes with different wall thicknesses, a main rod 3 coupled with the frame 1 to be held inside the pipe parallel to a central axis of the pipe, motorized Omni-directional wheel 4 configured with the rod 3 for providing movement of the main rod 3 within the pipe, a finishing unit 5 comprising a finishing flap having an abrasive surface to provide finishing on the inner surface of the pipe, a lubrication unit 6 containing a lubrication liquid is sprayed onto the inner surface of the pipe for facilitating finishing with reduced heat generation and an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 7 installed on the main rod 3 to measure surface roughness of the inner surface of the pipe."
