MUMBAI, India, Nov. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411025523 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on March 28, 2024, for 'device for covering a sink.'

Inventor(s) include Kirti Rani; Kirti Sharma; and Sukhjot Kaur.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 14, under issue no. 46/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A device for covering a sink, comprising, a rectangular frame 1 having four side members with each of the four side members comprising a multiple frame 1 member plates 2 connected with each other by motorized sliders 10, enabling sliding motion between the successive member plates 2 to change a length of each of the four side members to change the peripheral dimension of the rectangular frame 1 according to a dimension of the sink, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 3 to recognize a quantity of utensils being placed on the device, a motorized slider 6sto extend or retract the side members as per an area required by the utensils to keep a remaining area of the sink accessible for a user, and a robotic arm 7 for gripping and moving the utensils off the device."
