MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024933 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 27, 2024, for 'device for bundling sugarcanes.'

Inventor(s) include Geetika Sukheja.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A device for bundling sugarcanes, comprises of a rectangular base 1 having a storage container 2 for storing of sugarcanes, a vertical support member 3 having a circular frame 4 with an iris lid 5, an L-shaped telescopic arm 6 with a clamp for picking a predetermined number of sugarcanes, a roller 10 with a spool of a tying wire to tie the sugarcanes at multiple points, a clipper to hold open end of the wire, circular slider 9 for translating iris lid 5 to create loops of the wire, a grip and twist unit 11 provided on a telescopic rod for extending the grip and twist unit 11 to hold two sides of the wire to twist and tie them, cutting blade 14 for cuts wire, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 16 for recording and processing images in a vicinity of the base."
