MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411013442 A) filed by Uno Minda Limited, Gurgaon, Haryana, on Feb. 24, 2024, for 'device and method for heating and detecting undercurrent fault in grip.'

Inventor(s) include Shrikant Chandrakant Mane; Manmeet Singh; and Manohar Devidas Patil.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a heating and undercurrent detection device (200) for a grip (100) of a steering assembly of a vehicle which includes an electronic control unit (125) communicatively coupled with a master electronic control unit (150) of the vehicle. The device comprises a heating element (8) with a resistance coil (10) in the grip (100). When an electric current flows through the heating element (8), the temperature of the resistance coil (10) increases, heating the grip. A temperature sensor (12) detects the temperature of heating element, transmitting a first set of signals to the electronic control unit. Based on the first set of signals, the electronic control unit transmits a second signal to the master electronic control unit. If the second signal remains unchanged for a predefined period, the master electronic control unit detects an undercurrent condition and stops current flow to the heating element (8)."
